Less is more. If something simple can serve the purpose of something that is complex, then the simple is more sophisticated. If something cannot be further simplified, then that is ultimate sophistication. ~Nikisha ^-^~
Sometimes people look at the things that they themselves do not use, but are doing it to change others life. These people will rarely succeed. Instead, we should focus our attention on something that all of us will use, like the light bulb ---> LED. This will change many lives as they themselves will also use it as it is simple yet complex.
It means that the simpler the object is, the more beautiful and better it is.For example the invention of the wheel, it is just a circle and it is simple but yet it can be tyre under a car,the wheel of a motorcycle or even a pulley. It is such a simple design but yet it can be used in many different ways and it can be something be more complexed like a truck.
This means that when someone is designing a product, they are aware that there is never a product design that EVERYBODY will like, there will still be some people who dislike its design. This is why people like Steve Jobs designed their products simple, so that everyone can understand it and eventually it grows into a trend. Some people would not understand the whacky designs of a product, But if the product is made simple, everyone will be ok with it, because its design is open. This just proves that Steve jobs, for example, was able to think openly from different points of views. Simple is the key to designing stuff that everyone is happy with.
To be an innovator, you should have brains. So what's simple to him seems complex to others. Another way of thinking is that an innovator has to think of a simple problem that people face and sophisticate it with brilliant ides.
It sort of means that a good product does not need to be so complex. The simpler it is, the better. If it is too complex, it will be hard to use. ( Why is mine the shortest? )
It means that a good product does not need to be a very complicated one. A simple product is better as it would be easier to understand and easier to use as well. If it is too complex and complicated, people may not understand what the product is used for and the functions.
In my opinion, this is what this statement means to me: Making an innovative invention does not mean that the invention has to be complicated. Sure, you could wow someone with your invention, but simplicity is what makes people interested in whatever your making. I could be a great invention, it could do great things, but if nobody understand how to use it, then how are you going to sell it? How are you going to make it popular? People only want to buy things and use them if they are simple enough to use. The mechanics surrounding the invention could be complicated, but as long as it is easy to use, people will take notice of your invention.
When you make things too complicated, many misunderstandings or misconceptions would be caused, and that is not what something good (example: an Innovation) should cause . Therefore making things simple make things easy yet efficient.
Making something simple is also making it harder, as things are not exactly easier as you don't know more about it and then you won't be able to understand the whole thing. And therefore, it is more complicated as we don't understand it completely.
You can make something so simple, that it's sophisticated. With complexity, comes errors, making it harder to understand. But if something is simple, it doesn't take much to comprehend it.
Less is more and more is less. If something is simple for us, something or someone else has to do the hard work. It can also mean that simple tools can be used to do things that sophisticated tools cannot, assembling and disassembling a delicate object is done by screwdrivers and not drills.
I think that Da Vinci wrote that quote to convey that simple is complex. When something is simplified till it is said to be the simplest form, it is still complicated and can still be simplified further as long as we find a way to. He means that learning is never ending and will never be simple.

ReplyDeleteAs long as something is simple, it is better than something complex.
